As residents visit polling stations today to vote for councillors in the West Sussex County Council, we share two letters written on behalf of the communities they represent, to our local MPs.
The proposed development site in Pallinghurst woods sits within MP Gillian Keegan's consituency. Read on for an extract or click the PDF to read the entire document:
Dear Gillian Keegan MP
In Loxwood Parish to the north of your constituency, there are plans for an application, by Loxwood Clay Pits Ltd, to abstract clay from a clay pit and build and operate a recycling facility (possibly including concrete crushing) for construction and demolition waste, in the middle of the beautiful, and tranquil Pallinghurst Woods. The residents of the area know about the forthcoming proposal, because there have been webinars given by the agent (Protreat Ltd) where the agents have discussed the kind of plans they have.
Very many of the local residents in Loxwood and other villages adjacent to the proposed site – Tisman’s Common, Alfold Bars, Alfold, Buck’s Green, Rudgwick – are supporting a community group, Stop Loxwood Clay Pit, to stop this development.

Access to the proposed site and adjacent to it is the constituency of MP Jeremy Quin. Mr Quin visited the area recently and met with some residents, but some maybe unaware of this visit.
Dear Jeremy Quin MP
As you are aware, in Loxwood Parish, adjoining your constituency there are plans for an application, by Loxwood Clay Pits Ltd, to abstract clay from a clay pit and build and operate a recycling facility (possibly including concrete crushing) for construction and demolition waste, in the middle of the beautiful, and tranquil Pallinghurst Woods.
We know that you are already well versed in this matter from your recent fact-finding trip to Tismans Common. It was appreciated that you visited and spoke to many locals.

We look forward to responses from both MP's which we will publish here on the website.
Don't forget to vote today!
